A local Dutch entrepreneur asked Holland Aqua to join the creative development team in order to give technical assistance in his fly-fishing initiative and his fish husbandry system.
The fishing estate consisted out of several newly built open water ponds. In order for the chosen trout species to display their natural behaviour, an artificial wild water flow had to be created. After due research, the result was a long, meandering river, with water holdup dams, attractive for both fish and fishermen. The flow was created by a large propeller pump, which fed a supply channel.
Besides enthousiastic fishermen, wildlife and several new native fish species soon occupied the river. Due to the carefully selected pump and pumping station design, with a minimum of energy, the artificial river can run year round.
