Feasibility study: Fish farming methods for Kenya

In cooperation with several FoodTechAfrica partners, Holland Aqua conducted a feasibility study for commercial fish farming in Kenya. The study included a comparison of different farming methods.

It showed that intensive farming technology for aquaculture is feasible for Kenya. The major challenge, however, is to design a fish production system especially modified for local Kenyan conditions in terms of climate, water availability, investment capital, operational complexity, risks and available inputs. Holland Aqua conducted additional engineering research regarding the applicability of the Recirculation Aquaculture System (RAS) in Kenya.
